I’m not one for the traditional sugar ridden energy drinks, but sometimes you just need a little kick to get you through to 5pm.
I love my homemade healthy energy drink as it not only gives me the energy boost I need, but is so delicious, keeps me full and contains a whole host of vitamins and minerals.
In fact, did you know that in just 2 tbsp of Chia Seeds you could benefit from 5 grams of omega 3 fatty acids, 4 grams of protein, 11 grams of fiber, a whopping 18% of your total recommended daily calcium intake and all for just 137 calories. Now that’s pretty amazing if you ask me.
If you haven’t tried Chia Seeds before, they swell up into “jelly like” balls when coated in liquid. If you’ve ever had a Bubble Tea before then know that the texture of this is very similar (but so much better for you)!
To make it:
Add water to your bottle leaving about 1/5 of the bottle free.
Add in your 2 tbsp Chia Seeds and quickly screw the lid back on and shake. If you don’t keep them constantly moving when they first hit the water, they will all stick together and you won’t get them apart!
Finally, top with your favourite fruit. I added a squeeze of fresh orange juice, some orange slices and frozen raspberries.
If you need that additional “kick” of caffine then add some cooled green tea. I am obsessed with Gorgeous Geisha Green Tea from T2 (it’s a green tea infused with strawberries and cream and it is incredible)!

- Cucumber, coriander & lime
- Mixed berry (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries)
- Cucumber & honey dew melon
- Lemon & lime
Mix it up and have fun with it! It’s so simple you can use any odds and ends in your fridge to make a flavoured Chia Fresca of your very own.
